SRM University is one of the top ranking universities in India. NRI Students from various countries are generally admitted at the beginning of the academic year commencing normally by July / August of every year.

The university has kept aside certain percentage of seats for foreign citizens, PIO card holders, OCI, NRI students and NRI sponsored students under the Foreign/ NRI category. The admissions are based on merit and marks/grades obtained in the qualifying examination, availability of seats and on a "First-cum-First-Serve" basis. The international students are not required to take the entrance examinations conducted by SRM University for resident Indian Students.
