Over 200,000 students take admission in Indian engineering institutes and colleges. All the engineering colleges / institutions in India are recognised and regulated by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
Securing Admission
Admission to undergraduate courses at IITs is based on the merit obtained in a national entrance test, JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). An All-India Engineering/Pharmacy/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is conducted by CBSE, Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, for admission to degree-level courses in Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture in central universities, NITs, deemed universities and institutions in the States/UTs other than those covered by JEE/State Level Entrance Examination. NRIs can appear in these entrance tests but foreign passport holders are not eligible to take these tests.
