Pravasi Today is in its second year now. The faith with which the magazine was launched almost two years ago, has been further cemented by the loyalty and trust of readers, particularly, subscribers.

The magazine is an effort of few Indians, who, by a sheer chance of fate, as is the case with most NRIs and PIOs, happened to be stranded in alien land for a brief period, during the course of their career or studies. These Indians of Indian origin got a taste of life that People of Indian origin where delightfully savoring or unwillingly swallowing. The experience, though a short-lived one, left an indelible impression in the minds of these Indians of Indian origin, which formed the impetus for coming up with this magazine.

Pravasi Today did not start with a view to tap the market left behind by the mainstream media. Nor was it established by few enterprising gentlemen with the intention to take a plunge into unknown waters, in order to consolidate a strong position in the niche market which would allow leisurely fishing.

No, it was not economics which drove the founders of Pravasi Today to come up with a magazine that essentially projects the life and stories of PIOs and NRIs, but, the urge to bring to the fore the tales of unsung flag-bearers of Indian ethos, who have, through their intelligence and hard-work, given a respectable standing to Indian values in the global space.

NRIs and PIOs have done what the likes of Vivekanand, Gandhi, and other famous Indian leaders and gurus had set out to accomplish in their times. This is not a flattering eulogy that implicitly aims to garner hypnotic cheer from a specific section of population to support a particular cause. Our religious and political leaders in their times had done their best to spread the message in ancient scriptures and educate the world about the Indian culture. But their endeavors didn’t meet with enough successes. Interestingly, NRIs and PIOs have proven to be a silent force, that was quietly working from obscure quarters all these years, to give India as well as Indian values and culture a picture that was more acceptable to cynical Europeans, befitting to inscrutable Americans, trustworthy to skeptical Russians and revealing to mysterious Asians who are already a part of the vast Indian sub-continent.

Pravasi Today through its pages honors, appreciates and acknowledges the efforts and achievements of NRIs and PIOs, which have been deliberately ignored by mainstream media.
